Porter Stadium Ribbon Cutting

HANNIBAL, MO – Hannibal Public Schools proudly hosted a ribbon cutting on Saturday, August 16, 2025, marking the completion of extensive renovations at Dr. E.A. Porter Stadium.

The $7 million project, funded through Proposition Innovation, transformed the facility with new aluminum bleachers, larger ADA-compliant restrooms (including a family restroom), upgraded ticket booths and concession stands, and improved accessibility throughout the stadium. Capacity has increased from 1,600 to 2,400 seats, and additional entrances now make game-day access safer and more efficient.

“This isn’t just about improving a facility- it’s about investing in the experience of every student, athlete, parent, and fan,” said Ritchie Kracht, Superintendent.

The District extends its gratitude to:

  • Community members and taxpayers for supporting Proposition Innovation.

  • Parents, coaches, and students for their flexibility during construction.

  • Bob Borgmeyer, HPS Project Manager, for overseeing the work.

  • Clint Graham, Activities Director, for managing schedules and events.

  • The PSI project team — Greg Uffman (Project Manager) and Clint Mortensen (Project Superintendent) — for leading design and coordination.

  • Bleigh Construction, general contractor, for bringing the vision to life.

  • The IT Department for installing fiber lines and preparing the scoreboard.

  • Ben Craig for managing the sound system.

  • Pepsi for providing concession stand coolers and supplies.

  • The Hannibal Pirates Booster Club for supporting students and programs.

  • Local businesses and organizations for their ongoing commitment to Pirate athletics.

Demolition began in November 2024, immediately following football season. The stadium, first dedicated in 1936 and renamed in 1981 for longtime team physician Dr. E.A. Porter, now enters its 90th year as a reimagined facility ready to serve future generations.

“Hannibal Public Schools extends its appreciation to the community, taxpayers, parents, students, and staff whose support made this project possible,” said Ted Sampson, HPS Chief Operations Officer. “These upgrades ensure Porter Stadium continues to be a source of pride for years to come.”
